The 27th ICOS Congress in virtual mode

Dear Colleagues, Participants of the 27th ICOS Congress,

Last year, due to the Covid-19 epidemic, we had to postpone our conference for one year. We hoped that during this time the situation would have subsided and we all would be able to meet in person in Kraków. Unfortunately, in many countries the situation is still unstable and we can not be sure that traveling and meetings will be possible in August 2021. Therefore, after many discussions, the organizers and the ICOS Board have made a difficult but necessary decision on the organization of the 27th ICOS Congress being entirely in virtual mode. The Congress will take place betweeen the 22-27 August 2021 and will be held on the Zoom platform. Changing the concept of the Congress to remote mode resulted in lower registration costs. The updated registration fees and new framework programme will be published this week, after which the registration system will also be launched.

The addresses icos2020@ijp.pan.pl and icos2020.ijp.pan.pl remain unchanged, but just in case, we have also created icos2021 aliases, which will redirect to the addresses listed above.

We are convinced that despite the change in the formula of the congress, it will allow us to achieve the main objective of presenting research and exchange experiences of onomasticians from around the world.
We will keep you up to date on any events related to the ICOS Congress in Krakow.

Best wishes,

Maciej Eder, Urszula Bijak and the Organizing Committee
Paula Sjöblom and the ICOS Board of Directors

ICOS 2020/2021 update

Dear Participants of the 27th ICOS Congress in Kraków,

The Organizing Committee of the Congress has been still closely observing the global outbreak of the COVID-19 disease and its consequences. The situation is still uncertain.

We wanted to ensure you that the Congress will take place on the planned date 22-27 August 2021. But the final decision on the format of the Congress: in situ or online will be made in April in consultation with the ICOS Board. Then we will also launch the registration system. If Congress is held online, the fees will be reduced of course. We will keep you updated on developments.

The 27th International Congress of Onomastic Sciences, Kraków 2020 postponed

The Organizing Committee of the Congress has been closely observing the global outbreak of the COVID-19 disease and its consequences, including those which might impact international conferences scheduled for the summer months of 2020. In the face of the pandemic spread of Covid-19, after considering and evaluating all the implications, as well as the forecasts on the progress of the disease, the Organizing Committee in Kraków together with the ICOS Board of Directors believe that it is impossible to hold the Congress on the scheduled date. Therefore, we announce the postponement of the Congress to 22-27th of August 2021.
We sincerely regret any inconvenience and hope to meet all of you in less turbulent times in Kraków next year.

In connection with the decision of the postponement of the ICOS Congress to 22-27th of August, 2021, the Early Bird registration has been extended to the 31st of March, 2021.

IMPORTANT!
The Organizing Committee would also like to inform you that all registration fees received, abstracts accepted, and the conference programme already prepared for this year will be carried over to 2021.
However, we will understand if someone resigns from the Congress or if he or she wants to update his/her abstract. So please inform us about your decision or any changes till the end of 2020.

More information concerning the Congress will appear successively on our website and on Facebook.

Best wishes,

Maciej Eder, Barbara Czopek-Kopciuch, Urszula Bijak and the Organizing Committee
Paula Sjöblom and the ICOS Board of Directors
